From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 351

“Grandma, did you hit the jackpot?”

Paola shot her a look, trying not to smile. “Oh, get out of here!”

“Thank you, Grandma,” Eleanor said, her voice warm and genuine. “Are you sure this isn’t too much? It feels so precious.”

Honestly, it looked like something straight out of a royal collection, the kind of thing that gets handed down from generation to generation.

Kristina gave Eleanor a little wink. “Just take it, Eleanor. I’ve got my own, but I’ve never seen anything this nice before.”

Eleanor grinned as she accepted the gift, and Paola finally looked satisfied.

It was almost eight when Max arrived to pick Eleanor up, right on time.

Kristina couldn’t help but sigh as she watched them. “Eleanor, you’re really lucky. Your husband treats you like you’re the most important person in the world.”

Eleanor’s cheeks turned pink. “It’s not like that,” she mumbled, feeling her ears heat up.

Only the Clarkson family knew she was pregnant. They hadn’t told anyone else yet. Max wanted to wait until she made it past the three-month mark. He wasn’t superstitious, just cautious. You never know who might want to cause trouble.

Eleanor grabbed the dress Sophia had bought her, said goodbye to everyone, and got into Max’s car.

Max glanced over as she settled in. “What did you get?”

Eleanor couldn’t hide her happiness. She smiled, almost smug. “Sophia picked out a dress for the family party. And Grandma gave me a jade bracelet. It’s gorgeous and matches the dress perfectly.”

Max laughed. “You’re really that happy?”

“Of course,” Eleanor said, her voice soft as she stroked the silk box in her hands. “You don’t get it. This means a lot to me. My old family never gave me gifts. Not even once.”

Birthdays had always been the hardest. She used to watch other kids with their cakes and candles, making wishes, while she spent her birthdays working. Every morning started with the weight of debt on her shoulders, trying to fill a hole so deep most people couldn’t even imagine it.

Max reached over and pulled her close. “I’m sorry, babe. I shouldn’t have said that.”

He pressed a gentle kiss to her temple. “From now on, I’ll give you a gift every month. Deal?”

Eleanor wiped her eyes, laughing through her tears. “I’m not asking you to buy me things.”
