From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 353

Kennedy took a deep breath, sounding more grounded than before. “Jessie, Dad isn’t feeling well today. You know about the bankruptcy. Whatever you want to say, let’s talk about it later, okay? Adam and I need to meet someone. Maybe there’s still a way to save the company.”

Jessie pouted. “Kennedy, are you blaming me? It’s not like I made the family go bankrupt.”

“It’s all Eleanor’s fault anyway! She’s the one who messed with Max, and now look what happened to us!”

“That’s enough,” Kennedy cut her off, his voice sharp. “Adam and I have to go. We’ve got things to handle.”

He couldn’t help but wonder how he’d missed this about Jessie before. She was always stirring up drama, always pointing fingers. She’d tried to kidnap Eleanor, threatened her life, then expected everyone else to clean up her mess. Of course Eleanor struck back. Anyone would have. But Jessie didn’t feel an ounce of guilt, still insisting none of it was her fault.

Suddenly, things made sense to Kennedy. He glanced at Adam, who had been silent this whole time. “Adam, we need to make up for what we did. For real this time.”

Adam flinched, his voice barely a whisper. “Kennedy, I… I don’t know what to do.”

He felt lost, betrayed by the very sister he’d spent his whole life protecting.

Later, at Max’s request, Eleanor put on the dress he’d bought her. She’d been eating better lately, filling out in all the right places, but she still looked amazing. Max liked it even more, said she felt perfect in his arms.

The dress was a soft shade of lavender that hugged every curve. Eleanor checked herself in the mirror, twisting to see how it fit in the back. “Max, did you buy it a size too small on purpose?”

Every little move she made seemed to make Max’s eyes darken with desire. Before she got an answer, she was suddenly lifted off the ground, Max’s arm wrapping around her waist.

“Max, are you serious right now?” she squeaked.
